summer is here!

...well, almost here. I'm going to officially declare summer when they open the pool.

we went to st. louis a few weeks ago to spend the weekend with some friends (thanks, adam and megan!!!). it was SO much fun! I'm kicking myself that we didn't take more pictures, but at least I got a few of the st. louis arch.

it was a perfect day! just perfect!

"ma!"

Happy Mother's Day!!

Things you may not know about Mama Baxter:

5) She makes the most amazing cinnamon rolls...ever.

4) She continues to send fabulous packages to me even though I'm not in college anymore and I'm married. Nothing is better than a package full of goodies and things she knows I love!! Nothin!

3) She is the most genuine, caring, loving person I know; she never fails to boost my self-esteem when I am feeling down!

2) She is probably the only other person who gets just as excited as I do about the sock sale at Fred Meyer on the day after Thanksgiving, and will wake up at 5AM to get a good deal.

1) She inspires me to someday be a mother as selfless as she is!

when it rains, it pours.

Last weekend was very exciting. I really do love the weather in the South...its never boring!

On Saturday, we had to sit in the middle of walmart for about 40 minutes until the tornado passed. I got yelled at by a lovely walmart employee for trying to use the bathroom, and joel got yelled at by a crazy woman who yelled "we are STILL on CODE BLACK!!! NO SHOPPING!" it was hilarious.

Later that night we planned on going to the Nashville Symphony to see one of my all-time favorites, Mahler No. 5. We had student discount tickets and I was way way way excited. unfortunately, all the roads into nashville were under water, and we drove about as far as physically possible (I wasn't yet ready to give up) until I finally accepted that mother nature had ruined my night and seriously messed up Nashville.
as joel put it, "it took a natural distaster to keep you from seeing that symphony"
I was very very sad, but even more sad when I found out that part of the symphony center flooded along with opryland and some of my other favorites downtown. :(

Here we are after even more torrential monsoons on Sunday. One of the great things about living on the 3rd floor is that we don't have to worry about floods. Instead, I just have constant paranoia that a tornado is going to come and rip the roof off and suck me out. Yay!

as you can tell from the picture above, I am a professional and I don't let anythang get in the way of my photo...

you can sort of see the sidewalk under water above ^
