dear joel,

please don't go out of town. ever. again.

1. my plan to watch all of the movies you never want to watch? fail. instead I end up watching a marathon of 16 & pregnant (is she really going to put her baby up for adoption?! are they seriously practicing putting a diaper on a cat?!)

2. there are bugs. big huge bugs that need to be squished. trapping them under a kleenex box does not solve the problem (out of sight, out of mind?)

3. the sewer backs up and the house floods (true story)

4. emsley has a complete and utter meltdown, complete with coughing, choking, and non-stop screaming for over an hour straight (I blame the creepy a/c repair man)

5. my plan to sell your car while you are gone? fail. (instead I just got creepy guy from craigslist asking for my "exactly location" um...no thanks dude.)

6. eating club crackers and milk duds for dinner (yikes)

7. my plan to finally go to bed early? fail. (stayed up watching 16 & pregnant, remember?)

8. I miss you...and not just because you make the bottles in the morning and bring me the babies while I stay in bed...but of course I miss that, too.

I realize that you are going to be gone another week in april, but perhaps you will reconsider after reading these things. or maybe not. after all, you did say, and I quote:
"I'm glad I'm not there squeegeeing the poo-water..."

today

after making it a week short of 10 months old with gummy smiles, both babies had their bottom 2 teeth cut through at the exact same time (4 teeth at once!) so the past few days have been rough, especially since joel is in alabama all week for a work trip.
thankfully today they were little angels for me!

I don't know why I keep posting pictures of our shopping trips, but how else am I going to win the award for most boring blog ever created?

DIY "taggies"

After seeing these "taggies" at Target for $10 each, I decided to make my own way cuter ones!


I used yellow minky on one side and terry cloth on the other side, then I embroidered their initials in the corner. After pinning all of the ribbons to the inside, my lovely SIL emily sewed it all together for me [thank you!!].

shopping [update]

this is how we go shopping when the [stupid] store doesn't have a double cart and I don't feel like taking their carseats out of the car.






yes, that is a bath rug that I stuck in there...you see, walmart? that is why you need to have double carts. so your bath rugs don't get all nasty from babies laying on them.
and when I ask if you have a double cart, please don't tell me that you "haven't seen one in months!" what the?! are you telling me that someone stole them?

9 months

Teeth: 9 months and not a single tooth on either of them :) I feel lucky because I will be sad when those adorable gummy smiles go away!

Mobility: No crawling yet, but don't let that fool you. These girls just roll wherever they want to go. They can get from one end of the room to the other by rolling like steamrollers.

Solid foods: Its been almost 3 straight months of trying to offer them food from a spoon, and only within the past week or so have I noticed that they start to open their mouths a tiny bit. Summer is really doing well eating lots and lots of banana oatmeal. Emsley will get the food in her mouth, then smile really big because she is so proud, and then it will all come back out. Every time. Its hilarious.

Sleeping: Naps have been a little bit of a struggle lately, but I can't complain because they go to sleep at night like perfect angels. No fuss, nothing. They go to bed around 7 and wake up at 6:30.
They take 2 long naps and 1 short nap everyday. Usually the short nap is from 8-9AM, then the long ones from 11-1:30PM and 3-5:30PM.

Talking: Melts my heart! They are very vocal now. I love hearing all of the coos, babbles, screams, gurgles, etc. Emsley does this "gurgle" in her throat that sounds like she is gurgling water and it is exactly like the sound Chewbacca makes. Kills me every time.
