Life lately

Our garage is now a four car garage ;)

Summer on the right--the look of pure happiness that the horn goes "beep"!
Emsley on the left--obsessed with her curls in a ponytail

Thanks so much for our cars, Nana and Grampa!!!
Look at that perfect curl! Every girl's dream!

Have I mentioned how helpful the girls are with their baby brother?!
Oh wait...
He's not impressed
Both girls really love JJ! They love to touch his soft hair and give him kisses. They are also very fascinated when I change his diaper. My favorite thing is when they hear him crying they yell "OH NO CRYING!" and they are very concerned for him!
Joel's shirt says "Little Man"--haha!
Emsley "holding" her brother.

JJ's nursery reveal

I finally took some pictures of Joel's nursery. I wanted something bright and cheerful with lots of different colors. The girls' room is very pastel-soft and girly, so this was my "fun" room!

The crib is a Jenny Lind crib that I actually got for free from craigslist! It was originally brown. I sanded it for days (torture) and then primed it (even more torturous) and then spray painted it with Rustoleum's Apple Red. Don't even ask me how many cans of red spray paint I used. Okay, ask me. It was probably around 10-11 cans. I have a serious perfectionist problem when it comes to painting. I need help. Lastly I did a coat of clear Polycrylic to prevent it from chipping or being chewed off when he gets older.

I also found a matching changing table on craigslist (such an amazing coincidence!) for $15. So I did the exact same thing to the changing table (at this point I really have no clue what I was thinking...)

I glued vintage buttons onto a piece of burlap to make his initial. It was easy and fun compared to the crib project!

This is a shadowbox of daddy Joel's baby shoes, hat, silverware, and "calling card" from back in the day. My mother-in-law actually made this for me and I got it during my baby shower for the girls.

Rug and elephant picture from IKEA
I love the way it all turned out! I'm so glad I went with the bright color for the crib instead of doing something typical. The crib bumper was custom made with fabric I found at Joann's, the gray elephant sheet is from Target, and the chevron crib skirt was from fabric.com and then made by the master of all-things sewing, Emily (my sister-in-law). JJ loves staring at the polka dots!

He likes it, he really likes it! :)

these two are two!

Happy 2nd birthday to my little sweeties!

Emsley

Sassy little divas with so much personality--we love you so much!

Summer:
*The sweetest, most sensitive toddler ever
*She has only been in time-out once in her life and during that time, her lip started quivering and her eyes filled up with huge tears and she just melted our hearts!)
*Loves her blankey and bunny
*Loves shutting doors and locking herself in rooms (while Emsley is on the other side of the door LOL...she loves her alone time!)
*Obsessed with coloring and pens/markers/chalk/crayons
*Likes to stand up while watching TV
*Little miss independent

Summer being such a good big sister

Emsley:
*Mischievous!
*Says "nooo nooo" before/while doing something she knows is wrong--anytime we hear "nooo nooo" we know that she is doing something naughty! Its really helpful!
*Has been in time-out more times than I can count....hahaha! She just screams and doesn't really care!
*Has a sweet tooth like her mama
*Loves to snuggle while watching TV
*Talks and says SO many words--my favorite is when she says "Subba! Whey ay you?" (Summer, where are you?!)
*Also obsessed with coloring, but mainly just ballpoint pens and paper
*So hilarious and enthusiastic about everything!

Emsley loves "da baby!" She is very motherly towards him.
